It's Sunday morning and I pull up to Cindy's house. She is outside sitting on the front porch waiting for me and immediately starts jumping up when she sees me. She runs to the car and jumps in and sits down- she is ready to go. Sundays are Cindy's favorite day. She gets to ride in the car and go to Petsmart for HAPPE adoption events which means unlimited access to treats! And after a year and three months of being a HAPPE foster dog, she certainly knows the routine. Cindy is a beautiful beagle. I have had the pleasure of knowing her for the full year and 3 months she has been a HAPPE dog. She has stayed at our house and with several other fosters in our group and everyone agrees what a wonderful dog she is. So, of course everyone who knows Cindy, asks the question, "Why hasn't she been adopted?" As I mentioned, Cindy is beautiful, but perhaps beauty truly is in the eye of the beholder as Cindy isn't your classic 'beauty'. Cindy is between 6 & 8 years old and was found as a stray. At her first vet visit, we found out she was heartworm positive and had a severe case of dry eye syndrome in one eye (perhaps from a severe eye injury in her past that wasn't treated). After a year of treating the dry eye with an expensive medication, it was suggested that her eye be removed. She had no sight in the eye and it was a constant irritant to her. So, after discussing it several times with the vet, Cindy's left eye was removed. Even this major operation did not keep her down. Within a few days she was back on her feet and ready to attend the next adoption event and she found out that having one eye equals even more treats! Cindy has taught me several important lessons. She has taught me to always have hope and to give love unconditionally despite what you get back. UPDATE!! She has taught me that smiling despite your situation can actually improve it. And last but not least, she has taught me that there truly is someone for everyone and that the best things in life truly are worth waiting for! Cindy found her forever home and has a wonderful new mom and big brother, Louie! Your generous donations make it possible for HAPPE to rescue and care for dogs like Cindy. HAPPE would like to thank you all for your continued support & the time you give to HAPPE
