We all know that recycling is key to reducing our carbon paw-prints on the environment. But, have you considered what impact recycling our pets might have? There are more than 30 million puppies and kittens born in the United States each year--that's around 70,000 each day. To help put this number into perspective, chew over the fact that there are 15 puppies and 45 kittens for every child born in the U.S. Over 12 million of these pets end up in animal shelters for one reason or another. Millions more are abandoned in rural and urban areas. Nearly 2/3 of animals sent to shelters are euthanized. Research shows that pet owners live longer, happier lives than non-pet owners. Save a life and lengthen your own by recycling a pet. Make a real difference--adopt from a shelter! Give it a try! Find local pet shelters in our pet directory.
