Establish a relationship with the best veterinarian you can find. 2. For most older dogs, it is advisable to make an appointment with the vet every six months. 3. Your vet should be someone whom you trust and with whom you feel very comfortable. 4. Your veterinarian is your other family doctor, so find one you can trust and visit regularly. 5. Establish a mutually positive relationship with your veterinarian so you can comfortably discuss your dog's health. 6. Above all, you must be able to effectively communicate with your veterinarian.
